Questions people ask
Is this really a free DocuSign alternative?
Yes. There are no envelopes to buy and no accounts to create. You send the PDF yourself by email or chat, and Raccoon guides each signer through their fields.
What does the certificate of completion show?
It lists the envelope ID, every signer with their signature, when they opened and signed, their consent to sign electronically, their device, and a SHA-256 fingerprint of the file they received, followed by a full audit trail.
How do I know nobody changed the document after signing?
When the last person signs, the PDF is sealed with a digital signature. Adobe Acrobat and Raccoon both show if anything changes after that.
Can people sign on their phones?
Yes. Signers can draw with a finger or type their name, and the Next button takes them to each field.
Are electronic signatures legally binding?
In most countries, including under the US ESIGN Act and UETA and the EU's eIDAS rules, electronic signatures are valid for most everyday agreements when signers agree to sign electronically, which Raccoon asks every signer to do. Some documents, such as wills, may have other requirements, so check the rules for yours.
