Before you start

A drawn mouse signature rarely looks like your real one. A photo of your handwritten signature looks natural, but pasting a photo straight into a PDF leaves a grey or off-white box around it.

Raccoon removes the paper for you, so only the ink is placed on the document, and saves the result for next time.

Step by step

  1. Sign on white paperUse a dark pen, sign a little larger than usual, and leave space around it.
  2. Take a photo or scanPhotograph it in good light, straight on, without shadows. A scan works too. JPG, PNG and HEIC photos from most phones are fine.
  3. Upload it in RaccoonOpen raccoonpdf.com/sign-pdf and your PDF, choose Sign, then New signature › Upload, and pick the photo. On a phone you can take the photo right there.
  4. Clean it upRemove the paper background is on by default. Move the Clean up slider until the paper disappears and the ink stays crisp.
  5. Place and downloadChoose Save and place, tap where it goes, resize it, then press Download.

Good to know

  • Your signature is saved in this browser, so you only do this once on each device.
  • The same Upload button in the Stamp tool takes a company stamp, seal or logo.

Questions

Is my signature photo uploaded?

No. It is processed in your browser and saved only on your device.

My photo has a shadow. What can I do?

Raise Clean up to remove more of the background, or retake the photo near a window with the page flat.

Can I use a PNG that already has a transparent background?

Yes. Raccoon detects transparency and keeps it as it is.

Ready when you are

Free, no sign-up, and your file never leaves your device.
